Monophonic ringtones are the oldest and simplest
kind of ringtone. The phone uses a simple buzzer to produce a small
range of notes, making it difficult to reproduce any tune. Also,
only one note can be played at a time, so it is not possible to
have lead and backing instruments. Sometimes this can produce surprisingly
good results, but it is important to preview any tv tone you are considering
buying, to avoid disappointment.
You get much more realistic tunes with
polyphonic ringtones.
